We had one weekend for seeing the culture while we were in Shishi. Saturday we went to a small island across from Xiamen, home of the first protestant church structure in China. It once housed diplomats, world renowned architecture and beautiful scenery. We toured the island and went to Esther’s apartment for dinner. It was one of the best Chinese meals we had, all of it homemade. Sunday the team went to an international church in Xiamen, toured a University, and some even put their feet the ocean.
Each night after the program at school the team gathered to debrief the day. They discussed their quiet times, discipleship group discussions from the day, and worked on memory verses. It is a great time for sharing the day’s events and chance to worship together.
God is moving in China. Through the relationships our students and staff built with the Chinese students. By sharing Bible stories, personal testimonies, and through Christian holidays, over fifty students were presented with the Gospel. Twenty Chinese students came to Christ during our time in Shishi! This was an amazing and powerful experience for our team. It’s incredible to see the students on our team grow in their faith and share it boldly.
