Thanksgiving, babies and family

Last month we were with lots of family during the Thanksgiving holiday. We had our last YoungLife event for 2014, "Christmas Club". Rainer has been planning for his big recruiting trip to the Northeast that he will take in January and we've been getting ready for Christmas.

The biggest news from the last few weeks is the birth of our new niece: Elizabeth "Harper" Powell. Brent and Tori are wonderful parents and we praise God for the beautiful addition to the family.

Christmas movies

"It's the most...wonderful time... of the year..." I agree. I love this time of year. I love Christmas. I love celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ with friends and family. I really love picking out, wrapping and giving gifts to lots of people in our lives. Rainer and I were talking about giving the other day. We were talking about how the Lord created giving. He was the first to give and continues to show us how to do that every day.

One day (or two) during December I sit down in our den and wrap presents all day while watching my favorite Christmas movies. It's one of my favorite days of the year.

Here are my favorite Christmas movies:

#5  The Family Stone

#4  It's a Wonderful Life

#3  Miracle on 34th Street (1994)

#2  All I Want for Christmas (1991)

#1  Home Alone
