Last stop before training camp

We stayed the last two days at the Kalahari resort and celebrated my birthday. It's actually not until June 4th, but we will be at training camp. This place was awesome with an indoor waterpark, theme park, movie theater and great food! We had a fun and restful time... and now it's off to training camp!!

Second stop

Quick stop in Kansas City en route to training camp. A great Memorial Day weekend. Kansas City is awesome! We visited with our friend Ryan who we shared a house with in Kenya on a mission trip in 2010. We also got to visit with our friend Louis who plays for the Royals.

It fits!!

We have packed up the car and headed out! Every inch of the car is full of gear. We will only take about 1/7 of this overseas with us, the rest is for the 4.5+ weeks we will be camping at training camp in Wisconsin.

What are we doing? Where are we going?

We have joined Reign Ministries and are now in full-time ministry. We will be living in Clarksdale, but taking students overseas on mission trips every summer. We are working for the Royal Servants branch of Reign, they are based out of Minneapolis.

Reign's vision is to train and develop youth and youth leaders whose hearts are focused on Christ and whose minds are grounded in His Word, and for them to have a lifestyle that mirrors Jesus' command, "Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations".

This summer we will be going with the Western Europe trip. Rainer will be in charge of the finances and I will be in charge of the food/cooking, the same tasks we had the last time we went with Royal Servants, however this summer will also be training to be team leaders. This week we are headed to Birmingham for a seminar, then a road trip up to Wisconsin to join the Reign team at training camp!

We are very excited about working with youth and Reign ministries. We ask for your prayers as we begin our summer.

"The Help"

Rainer surprised me Saturday morning telling me that we were going to the Viking cooking school that evening to celebrate our anniversary! (Our 3rd anniversary isn't until the 30th, but we will at training camp) We went to Greenwood for the day and enjoyed a delicious lunch (fried green tomato BLT, New Orleans style BBQ shrimp sandwich, warm homemade chocolate chip cookie!). We killed time between lunch and our cooking class by walking through shops downtown, geo-caching and going around to see filming locations from the movie "The Help" (it was filmed in Greenwood, MS). At Viking we cooked 'Southern Italian' dishes.... Rainer breaded eggplant... it was so fun and yummy!

Our kind Sunday School class

Our Sunday School class supported us with supplies for our mission trip this summer (paper products, duct tape, extension cords and more). Along with Pete's Sunday School class they prayed over us and the summer trip with Royal Servants. We are so thankful to God for the people He has put in our lives. Thanks to Tom for great Bible teaching!

It was Chandler Week! We loved getting to celebrate with Chandler as he was finishing up high school this week. He is headed to Mississippi State University in the Fall after a fun summer of going to JH Ranch in California and farming with Brent.

Learning from God's Word

Is my prayer submissive?

I am currently studying the Lord's Prayer. Jesus said to the disciples " Pray then like this" Matt 6:9. The Lord gave us this prayer not just to recite over and over but to give us a blueprint on how to talk with God.

Today I studied the verse "Your Kingdom come, your will be done "Matt 6:10. God showed me that I was emphasizing the words Kingdom and will, not the word Your. I wasn't praying with an attitude of submission. My prayers should be focused on God's will and His kingdom when I pray. Not my kingdom or my will. That changes the way I pray entirely. I know He wants to hear my worries and concerns because He cares for me, but I also need to pray with a submissive heart.

Jesus prayed before going to the cross "Father if you are willing, remove this cup away from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done. " Luke 22:42. I'm learning that its not always going to be easy to pray "Your kingdom and Your will be done", It can cost everything.
